Michelin Primacy 5 Tyre Launched in India: Brand’s First Made-in-India Tyre for SUVs, Sedans and EVs

Michelin has expanded its premium passenger car tyre portfolio in India with the launch of the all-new Primacy 5 starting from Rs 10,000. The introduction of this new tyre marks a milestone for the French tyre manufacturer as it becomes the company's first passenger car tyre to be manufactured in India. Sharing this update the company revealed that this tyre has been designed for sedans, SUVs and EVs. The Michelin Primacy 5 has been launched in 5 sizes ranging from 16 to 22 inches.

According to the company the Primacy 5 tyre has been developed and tested on vehicles commonly driven in India and manufactured at the company's Chennai facility. According to Michelin, the tyre has been benchmarked against leading competitors and independently validated to suit Indian driving conditions.

The company claims that the Primacy 5 delivers wet braking distances that are more than 8 metres shorter than leading rivals when new and up to 9 metres shorter when worn. It is also claimed to reduce dry braking distance by up to 4 metres compared to competing premium tyres. Michelin states that the Primacy 5 offers an 8 percent longer lifespan than the outgoing Primacy 4ST and improves ride comfort and reduces road noise.

Michelin states that the Primacy 5 tyre is capable of handling the higher torque and weight of EVs while delivering improved efficiency, citing a comparison to Primacy 4ST, the company claims that this tyre has lower rolling resistance of 6.5 percent.
