New Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe Revealed Globally: Powertrain, Range and More
Mercedes-AMG has introduced the GT 53, an all-electric entry-level variant of its GT 4-Door Coupe range. The GT 53 supports rapid DC charging, allowing up to 534km of claimed range in just 10 minutes.

Mercedes-AMG has expanded its new all-electric GT 4-Door Coupe range with the GT 53, which becomes the entry-level variant in the performance-focused lineup. Positioned below the GT 55 and GT 63, the new GT 53 combines a 544hp dual-motor setup with a large 106kWh battery and claims an impressive range of up to 793km.

Mercedes-AMG GT 53: Power And Performance
The Mercedes-AMG GT 53 uses the same liquid-cooled 106kWh battery pack seen in the higher variants. However, instead of the tri-motor setup used by the GT 55 and GT 63, the GT 53 gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.
The setup produces 544hp and 800Nm of torque. Mercedes-AMG claims the GT 53 can accelerate from 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds. While that makes it slower than the GT 55 and GT 63, it still offers strong performance for an entry-level version of the electric AMG GT.
The GT 55 produces 816hp and 1000Nm, while the GT 63 develops 1169hp and 1200Nm. The GT 53 takes 0.8 seconds longer than the GT 55 and 1.1 seconds longer than the GT 63 to complete the 0-100kph sprint.
GT 53 Offers The Highest Range
Interestingly, the GT 53's lower motor count gives it an advantage over its more powerful siblings when it comes to range. It has a claimed range of 793km, which is 103km more than the GT 55 and 107km more than the GT 63.
The electric GT 53 is based on an 800-volt architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 600kW. Mercedes-AMG claims that a 10-minute charging session can add enough energy for up to 534km of range.
Simulated Gearshifts And AMG Sound
Despite being an electric car, the GT 53 retains simulated gearshifts. The paddle shifters are designed to mimic manual gear changes rather than control regenerative braking, helping give the car a more conventional AMG driving experience.
The GT 53 also gets synthesised engine sounds inspired by Mercedes-AMG's 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engines. This is different from the artificial V8-inspired sound offered on the GT 55 and GT 63.
The car also comes with air suspension with adaptive damping, AMG 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and torque vectoring. The latter allows drive force to be distributed individually between the rear wheels to improve traction and handling.
Aerodynamic Design
The AMG GT 53 gets a functional rear spoiler that deploys automatically at speeds above 150kph. It can also be manually activated using a button on the steering wheel. The spoiler adjusts its angle to improve downforce and stability.
A rear diffuser further improves aerodynamic efficiency by reducing air resistance. Mercedes-AMG says this helps improve efficiency and range, particularly when driving at high motorway speeds.
Visually, the GT 53 shares most of its design with the higher variants. Like the GT 55, it does not get the LED lightbar connecting the headlights. Instead, there is a bonnet scoop that gives it a distinctive appearance.
The car features star-shaped LED daytime running lights and a concave grille with vertical slats. At the rear, three taillight pods with tristar LED elements on either side add to its sporty appearance. The design draws inspiration from the Vision AMG and GT XX concepts.
Three-Screen Dashboard

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 gets a three-screen dashboard layout. This includes a 10.2-inch digital driver's display, a 14-inch central touchscreen and a separate 14-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.
The cabin also features an AMG-specific three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, along with physical rocker and roller controls. Paddle shifters are also included.
Drive modes include Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, Eco and Individual. In Sport+, the simulated gearshifts and engine sound are designed to make the electric GT feel more like a conventional performance car.
Other features include two wireless phone charging pads, AMG and GT displays on the centre console, a concealed storage compartment under the central armrest and a panoramic glass roof with switchable transparent and non-transparent sections.

Despite its performance-focused character, the GT 53 offers practical storage space. It gets a 507-litre boot along with a 62-litre front trunk, or frunk.
Mercedes-AMG GT 53 India Launch
Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed whether the all-electric AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will be launched in India. The GT nameplate is currently available in the country in combustion-engine form, with prices starting at Rs 3.27 crore (ex-showroom).
For now, the new AMG GT 53 remains an international-market model, but its combination of strong performance, a 793km claimed range and ultra-fast charging makes it one of the more interesting additions to Mercedes-AMG's electric performance portfolio.
