Stellantis to Launch 12 Jeep & Citroen Cars in India by 2030: 7 New Models & 5 Upgrades in Pipeline

Stellantis has officially unveiled a comprehensive product roadmap for the Indian market, titled 'FaSTLAne 2030'. The strategy involves a significant investment of Rs 4,000 crore aimed at revitalizing the presence of its core brands, Citroen and Jeep, through a series of 12 model launches scheduled over the coming years; including seven new model launches and five upgrades. According to Tianshu Xin, head of Stellantis China and Asia-Pacific, the plan encompasses seven entirely new models alongside five major upgrades to existing vehicles.
The product offensive is set to commence in the second quarter of 2027. The upcoming lineup is designed to span several key segments, including compact, midsize, and premium SUVs, as well as an entry-level vehicle, a new MPV, and a premium pickup truck. Of the 12 planned additions, seven will carry the Citroen badge, while five will be introduced under the Jeep brand. Notably, this roadmap is expected to include a new Jeep midsize SUV built on the ARGOS platform, with a projected market entry in the first half of 2028.

Strategic Focus on Localization and Multi-Fuel Technology

Stellantis intends to position its brands to serve distinct market segments, with Jeep focusing on the premium SUV space and Citroen targeting the mass-market sector. To support this, the company is prioritizing a high degree of domestic manufacturing, setting a target of 90 percent localization across its product range. This strategy relies heavily on the company’s existing Indian research and development facilities and its local supplier ecosystem, with the added goal of exporting these India-developed models to international markets.
The company has also confirmed a multi-fuel powertrain strategy for India, which will integrate internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, plug-in hybrids (PHEV), and battery-electric (BEV) technologies. This approach aims to diversify the current portfolio, which is largely dominated by petrol engines, with limited EV and diesel options currently available. Beyond product development, Stellantis plans to strengthen its retail and service footprint, specifically targeting expansion into Tier 2, 3, and 4 cities to improve accessibility and parts availability for customers.

Future Outlook and Leapmotor Status

The ambitious roadmap serves as a strategic response to recent market challenges, as both Citroen and Jeep have faced difficulties in maintaining sales momentum against more feature-rich competitors. By refreshing the lineup and expanding the service network, the company aims to improve its competitive standing in the Indian automotive landscape.
Regarding the potential entry of the Chinese electric vehicle brand Leapmotor, which is part of the broader Stellantis group, the company remains cautious. While there were previous indications of an earlier arrival, Tianshu Xin stated that the brand’s entry into India is still under evaluation. A final decision will depend on whether the business case can demonstrate sufficient volume potential to justify the investment. For now, the primary focus remains on the execution of the FaSTLAne 2030 plan for the Citroen and Jeep brands.
