Tata Aeris to Launch Tomorrow: What to Expect?

Tata Motors is getting ready to introduce a new nameplate in the compact sedan segment. The Tata Aeris will be launched in India tomorrow, September 25, replacing the Tigor and bringing a fresh design, an updated cabin and familiar powertrain options to the sub-four-metre sedan space.

Ahead of its launch, Tata Motors has released multiple teasers that have revealed several exterior details. Here is what to expect from the upcoming Tata Aeris.

The Tata Aeris will get a significantly revised exterior compared with the outgoing Tigor. The front-end changes are among the most noticeable, with the sedan featuring slimmer headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The front bumper has also been redesigned and gets a larger lower air intake. The bonnet and grille area are expected to receive revisions as well, giving the sedan a sharper look.

At the rear, the Aeris gets revised LED tail lamps with a new internal lighting signature. The boot lid and rear bumper have also been redesigned, while Aeris lettering will be spread across the tailgate. Another noticeable change will be the new U-shaped alloy wheels. These are expected to be offered on the higher variants of the compact sedan.

Tata Motors is also expected to make major changes to the cabin. The Aeris could feature a redesigned dashboard along with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and an updated digital instrument cluster. The sedan is also expected to get a new steering wheel and a revised centre console layout. Tata could borrow some features and design elements from its newer models, including the Punch and Nexon.

The Tata Aeris is expected to continue with the familiar 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. In its current form, this engine produces around 86 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options are expected to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. There are no major mechanical changes expected with the new model.

A factory-fitted CNG version is also expected to remain part of the Aeris lineup. Tata Motors already offers CNG versions of several models in its small-car portfolio, and the Aeris is likely to continue with the same approach. The CNG option will give the sedan an alternative powertrain for buyers looking for lower running costs, while also helping it compete with established rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

An electric version of the Aeris could arrive at a later stage, but Tata Motors has not teased an EV version for tomorrow's launch. For now, the focus is expected to remain on the petrol and CNG versions.
