Electric scooters have seen a surge in popularity in India, Now, Ather has introduced its 2025 450X, aiming to enhance safety and range while keeping the design largely unchanged. Does it justify the added features and price? Let’s delve into the detailed review of this new Ather 450X.

The design of the 2025 Ather 450X remains visually similar to its predecessor. The body panels, graphics, headlamps with DRLs, and the overall front-end design remain untouched. However, there are subtle updates in the colour schemes. The new model introduces a fresh blue tone with white graphics and frame accents. Additionally, a new ‘Hyper Sand’ colour option broadens the aesthetic choices.

A significant update lies in the tyres. Ather has collaborated with MRF to create specially designed tyres for the new 450 series. Another practical feature is the air pressure indicator arrow on the tyre, showing the recommended PSI for both tyres—a minor but useful feature.

Other features includes google navigation and fallsafe. The rear retains the monoshock suspension, disc brakes, and LED tail lamps, all of which remain unchanged from the previous version.

One of the most noteworthy updates is the inclusion of traction control. The 450X now offers three traction modes: Rain, Road, and Rally. Users can toggle between these modes using the switchgear on the handlebar. The display layout remains the same, but new features enhance its utility.

A key new addition is the ‘Magic Twist’ feature—a regenerative braking system that eliminates the need to press the brake. This function is available on both the 450S, 450X and Apex models, with slight price variations depending on the variant. Modes like Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp continue to offer diverse performance levels.

The scooter’s grip on both track and urban roads, including potholes and uneven surfaces, is impressive. The new tyres provide solid traction, and the traction control system works seamlessly, ensuring stability during sudden manoeuvres. In terms of braking and suspension, the setup remains consistent with the previous generation. The disc brakes are effective, and the telescopic front suspension handles uneven roads with ease. The rear mono-shock also ensures a stable ride over speed bumps and potholes.

Ather claims a 24 percent improvement in range with the 2025 450X. The true range for the 450X with a 2.9 kWh battery varies between 90 km and 105 km in Smart Eco mode, while the top-spec 3.7 kWh variant delivers a true range of 110 km to 130 km. Sport mode offers 70 km to 80 km on the 2.9 kWh variant and 85 km to 100 km on the 3.7 kWh model.

The pricing starts at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 450S. The 450X 2.9 kWh version is priced at approximately Rs 1.47 lakh, while the top-spec 3.7 kWh variant costs around Rs 1.57 lakh. Adding the Pro Pack or higher variants increases the cost further, with the top model reaching Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom Bangalore).

Despite retaining its familiar design, the 2025 Ather 450X brings valuable updates. Enhanced safety with traction control, better tyres, and improved range makes it a compelling choice in the electric scooter segment. However, a fresh design update would have added more appeal. Considering performance, comfort, features and pricing, the new 450X is still a well-rounded electric two-wheeler.
