Triumph Recalls 2025 Speed Twin Models In The U.S. Over Rear Indicator Noncompliance

Triumph Motorcycles America is recalling 1,157 units of its 2025 Speed Twin models due to rear indicators failing to meet U.S. safety regulations. The red indicators are too close to the tail light, potentially affecting visibility.

2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200

Triumph Motorcycles America has issued a voluntary recall for 1,157 units of its 2025 Speed Twin 1200, Speed Twin 1200 RS and Speed Twin 900 motorcycles that were produced between September 8, 2024 and February 6, 2025 due to noncompliance issue with the rear indicators, which fail to meet the required minimum edge separation distance from the tail light.
According to the report filed by Triumph to NHTSA said, The bike's red rear indicators fail to meet the required minimum edge separation distance of 4 inches from the rear tail light. Indicators placed in close proximity to the rear brake light may hinder other road users' ability to accurately assess the rider's manoeuvres, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. While the required effective light emitting surface area is met independently, the indicators were designed in red, failing to comply with the mandated 4-inch minimum edge separation distance from the rear tail light.
The issue was identified after a functionality query was raised on January 31, 2025, followed by a positioning error confirmation on February 19, 2025. Triumph initiated the recall on February 25, 2025.

Affected Models and Production Dates

  • Triumph Speed Twin 1200 (Produced from September 8, 2024 – January 31, 2025)
  • Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS (Produced from September 8, 2024 – January 27, 2025)
  • Triumph Speed Twin 900 (Produced from October 22, 2024 – February 6, 2025)
To deal with the issue, Triumph dealers will replace the red indicators with amber ones, free of charge, including parts and labor. The new amber indicators comply with U.S. safety regulations.
