60 Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUVs Deployed For Indo-Tibetan Border Police For Patrolling Operations

Maruti Suzuki announced the delivery of 60 of its off-road vehicles, Jimny to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) during a ceremony at the ITBP Headquarters in New Delhi on Friday. Additionally, this marks the first deployment of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny within a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The ceremony was attended by Abdul Ghani Mir (IPS), Additional Director General (HQ), ITBP, and Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is an off-roader from the company, known for its robust performance in harsh conditions including high-altitude and cold environments, especially the Himalayan regions where ITBP personnel operate. These areas experience extreme weather, with temperatures dropping to negative 45 degrees Celsius during winter, glaciers, and snow-covered mountains with their vehicles expected to not only withstand but endure the cold and continue to operate through the harsh conditions. Furthermore, the vehicles will assist ITBP personnel in patrolling, border security, and transporting officers and troops.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, stated, “Today marks a significant moment as we deliver the Jimny to the ITBP. The Jimny is well-equipped for the challenging border terrains where ITBP personnel serve."

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door, manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram, Haryana plant, is exported to approximately 100 countries. Recently, exports of the 5-door model began to Japan, supporting the Make-in-India initiative. It is the second Maruti Suzuki car which is being exported to Japan from India after exports of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
