Aston Martin has issued a voluntary safety recall for 1,452 vehicles for the DB12, Vantage and DBX707 models that were manufactured between March 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024 due to a software fault affecting rear visibility.
According to the report Aston Martin filed to NHTSA, The above mentioned vehicles are fitted with a reverse camera that is activated automatically when reverse gear is selected. When a vehicle is started and reverse gear quickly selected, the home screen menu may obscure the display of the reverse camera (refer to Figure 1). The on-screen switches to change the view of the rear camera are also unavailable when the head unit home screen menu is displayed. The vehicle must be shut down to clear these symptoms when they occur. To prevent this problem occurring the vehicle should be started and the infotainment system allowed 20-30 seconds to fully boot up before reverse gear is selected.

Vehicles Affected

  • 2024-2025 Aston Martin DB12
  • 2025 Aston Martin Vantage
  • 2025 Aston Martin DBX707
The issue was first observed by Aston Martin 28th October. In December, The Company’s Critical Concerns Review Group (CCRG) met to assess the nature and scope of potential concerns related to the software non-compliance. The CCRG reviewed the technical data and recommended the matter should be reviewed by the Recall Committee. The recall Committee convened and determined that: a non-compliance could occur in the relevant vehicle population, an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update should be deployed so that affected vehicles would comply with the relevant FMVSS and a voluntary compliance recall should be implemented for all affected vehicles that cannot install the OTA software update.
Aston Martin plans to notify affected customers beginning January 20, 2025, with the recall campaign running through June 30, 2025. Vehicles equipped for OTA updates will receive a notification directly on their head unit once the update is available. Others will need to visit a dealership for the necessary fix.
