Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe Launched In India: Price, Engine, Power, Bookings, Safety And Features

Citroen India has officially launched its SUV Coupe, the Basalt just a few days after the launch of Tata's Curvv its direct competitor in the mass market SUV Coupe segment in India. Starting Today, the Basalt is available for bookings at an introductory price of Rs 7.99 lakh. Customers can secure their order with a booking amount of INR 11,001, with deliveries scheduled to start in September 2024.

The Citroen Basalt comes with a distinct design, characterized by a coupe-like roofline and a bold front fascia similar to the C3 Aircross. The SUV-coupe features LED lighting technology, a V-shaped split grille and dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, wraparound halogen tail lamps and a blacked-out bumper.

The Basalt offers two petrol engine options: a 108.5 bhp, 1.2 L turbo-petrol engine with a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, and an 81 bhp, 1.2 L naturally aspirated petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission. Fuel efficiency is rated at 18 kmpl for the naturally aspirated engine and 19.5 km/l for the turbo-petrol engine with the manual transmission and 18.7 kmpl with the automatic.

The Basalt is packed with intuitive technology, including a 10.23 inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, it features a 7 inch TFT instrument cluster with 3 customizable modes: Minimal, eco drive and Dual Mode, a 15-watt wireless charger and three USB ports to keep devices powered on the go.

In Terms of Safety, the Basalt offers over 40 active and passive safety features, including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across all variants.

The Basalt measures 4352 mm in length, 1765 mm in width (excluding mirrors) and 1593 mm in height, with a 2651 mm wheelbase and 470-litre boot space. The front suspension uses a Macpherson strut with a coil spring, while the rear has a twist beam with a coil spring. Braking is handled by ventilated discs at the front and drum brakes at the rear, with electric power steering and 205/60 R16 tires.

Customers can book the Citroen Basalt with a booking amount of Rs 11,001 at La Maison Citroen showrooms nationwide or online through the Citroen India website. Deliveries are set to begin in September 2024, with the special introductory pricing valid for a limited time. The Basalt will be available in five monotone colors: Garnet Red, Cosmo Blue, Polar White, Platinum Grey and Steel Grey, with dual-tone roof options available for select colors.
