Honda Plans Three New Models For India by FY2027 To Boost SUV Market Presence

On the sidelines of the launch of the 3rd gen Honda Amaze, brand announced that they will be launching 3 new models In the Indian market by FY2027 with the aim to increase its market share in the SUV segment.

Honda current product portfolio in India consists of 3 Models; Amaze, City and Elevate. Honda Elevate is the only SUV in their product range, Honda Elevate hybrid could be one the model that is expected to be introduced. Honda Elevate Hybrid was recently spotted testing in Brazil, It is expected to be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine and two electric motors. The petrol engine will produce 98 bhp and 126 Nm of torque, while the electric motors will produce 108 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. Currently Honda elevate is available with a 1.5L petrol engine mated to either a 6 speed manual or 7 speed CVT gearbox.

Recently in October Honda Elevate Hybrid was spotted testing in Brazil, Elevate is made on the City platform which is offered with strong hybrid powertrain option. The spy shot suggests that test unit appears same as of the Indian spec model.

Of the other 2 models one of them is likely to be a hatchback as currently Honda does not have a Hatchback in their product portfolio and an Electric vehicle.

In November 2024 Honda Cars India registered total sales of 10,726 units in November 2024. Domestic sales of the company stood at 5,005 units Amaze (2,628), Elevate (1,668) and City (709). Exports stood at 5,721 units in the month of Nov’24. The company had registered 8,730 units in domestic sales and exported 3,161 units in November’23.
