Volkswagen Golf GTI & Tiguan R-Line India Launch Officially Confirmed: Check Details

German automaker Volkswagen, also popularly known as VW has officially confirmed that it is bringing two performance oriented cars to the Indian market. In a recent press release the company has officially confirmed that it will bring the Golf GTI and the Tiguan R-Line to India this summer to turn up the heat.

According to the information shared by the company in a recent press release, VW will be introducing the Golf GTI and the Tiguan R-Line to the Indian market in the second quarter of 2025. The company further stated that it will introduce both these cars in India in early Q2 2025, so we can expect both these cars to debut in the market in April or May this year.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen India said, “Taking our performance legacy forward, we are elated to bring our global icons to customers in India – the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan R-line and the legendary Golf GTI. We strongly believe these icons are truly aspirational and will permeate excitement among customers and fans of the brand. The two new carlines will be introduced in early Q2’2025 and will progressively strengthen the brands’ presence in India”.

For a long time car enthusiasts in India have anticipated the arrival of the VW Golf GTI in the country and there were even rumours about the car making its debut in the country at Auto Expo 2025. However its absence at the Indian Auto Show did disappoint many of us but the company hasn’t really let us down and has come out with a double bonanza with this announcement.

Our made-in-India, made-for-the world, Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, have carried forward these global credentials in India as well. Volkswagen India has had a fast start to 2025 with 3% growth in sales volumes YTD Feb’25 (vs. last year). We stay true to our commitment of delivering German - engineered, safe and fun-to-drive cars to the Indian market," he added.

The company hasn’t released more model specific details of these upcoming cars yet. We are expecting the company will release more details regarding the configuration details of these cars as we get closer to their launch date.
