Why the Kia Carens is such a good seller?

Usually MPVs are abhorred by buyers because of their boxy and out of proportion styling. But the Carens manages to be an exception. Not many are aware that it shares its platform with the Hyundai Alcazar and that’s why the Carens manages to look like an SUV rather an MPV. The high set bonnet, the swooping headlamps along with the signature Kia Tiger nose grille give this car a unique and very appealing stance. The only hint of the MPV styling is the rather large rear door for easy access but from whichever angle you choose to look the Carens is an all out winner in terms of design.

The strong styling details on the outside are carried over on the interior as well. The fit and finish is brilliant, much better than the Maruti Suzuki XL6 which is a direct rival. But it’s not just the fit and finish, it’s also the quality of switchgear and the overall ambience inside the car. You just get a feeling you are sitting inside a miniature version of the much bigger and expensive Carnival MPV rather than the Carens itself. The seats both in the front and back offer supreme support and if you choose the top end version you gets brilliant music system from Bose with great sound quality, but more on that later.

Another strong suit of the Carens is the rich features list. The X-line version pictured here comes with cooled front seats, digital dials, cruise control, traction control, multiple airbags among other things. The AC vents in the rear and USB type C charging points in the second row of seats also show how thoughtful Kia is towards rear occupants. The sunroof also means that buyers get a taste of the most trending feature on the auto scene right now. All these ingredients make the Carens a great all round package.
