Maruti Suzuki Brezza New vs Old: What's Changed?
The SUV now features a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, improved safety features, and a new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet engine, offering better performance and fuel efficiency.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza New vs Old: What's Changed?
Maruti Suzuki has given the
Brezza its biggest update, making India's popular compact SUV more feature-rich, safer and technologically advanced than before. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the facelift introduces noticeable styling tweaks, a revamped cabin, new powertrain options and several segment-first features aimed at strengthening its position against rivals like the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
But how much has really changed compared to the outgoing model? Here's a detailed old vs new comparison of the
Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift, covering everything from design and features to engine options and safety.
The overall shape of the Brezza remains unchanged, but Maruti Suzuki has introduced several cosmetic updates to give it a fresher appearance.
At the front, the SUV gets a redesigned grille with smoked chrome detailing and a revised bumper featuring a bolder silver garnish. The fog lamps have also been repositioned inside new triangular housings, giving the front end a sharper look.
On the side, the biggest change is the introduction of new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, along with slightly revised body cladding. At the rear, updates are limited to tweaked LED tail lamp internals and a revised bumper design.
New Colours and Sportier Turbo Variants
Maruti Suzuki has refreshed the Brezza's colour palette as well. Older shades such as Brave Khakhi and Exuberant Blue have been discontinued, while new colours like Vivacious Orange and Lustrous Beige have been introduced.
The SUV is now available in 10 colour options, including three dual-tone combinations on Lustrous Beige, Sizzling Red and Pearl Arctic White.
Turbo-petrol variants also get exclusive styling touches, including red exterior accents, unique cladding and 'Turbo Boosterjet' badging.
Cabin Gets More Premium Feel
Inside, the dashboard layout remains largely unchanged, but the cabin now looks more premium thanks to the replacement of the old silver trim with gloss black inserts.
Maruti has also upgraded the climate control panel with piano-style switches and a rotary dial. Unlike before, temperature and fan speed are now displayed on the infotainment screen instead of a separate display.
Bigger Touchscreen and More Features
One of the biggest upgrades is the new 10.1-inch SmartPlay Pro X touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previous 9-inch unit.
The feature list has also grown significantly. The new Brezza now offers:
- Ventilated front seats
- 64-colour ambient lighting
- 360-degree camera
- PM2.5 air filter with AQI display
- Safe Exit Warning
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
These additions make the updated Brezza much more competitive in the compact SUV segment.
New Turbo Boosterjet Engine Joins the Lineup
The biggest mechanical update comes under the bonnet.
The existing 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine continues to produce 103 hp and 139 Nm, while the CNG version retains its output of 89 PS and 122 Nm.
The headline addition is the new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine, which develops 110 PS and 170 Nm, making it the most powerful engine option in the lineup. It is aimed at buyers looking for stronger performance and a more engaging driving experience.
Another important change for the CNG variant is the adoption of underbody-mounted CNG tanks, which free up more boot space compared to the previous model.
Updated Transmission Options
Transmission choices have also been revised.
The new turbo-petrol engine is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The naturally aspirated petrol and CNG variants also receive a 6-speed manual transmission, replacing the older 5-speed unit. Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated petrol version continues to offer a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Fuel Efficiency Sees a Noticeable Improvement
The introduction of the new 6-speed manual gearbox has helped improve fuel efficiency across the range.
The petrol manual now delivers a claimed mileage of up to 21.09 kmpl, compared to 17.80 kmpl in the previous model.
The CNG variant's claimed efficiency has also increased from 25.51 km/kg to 26.90 km/kg.
Meanwhile, the new turbo-petrol variants offer a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 20.47 kmpl, making them a practical option despite their stronger performance.
Lower Starting Price Despite More Upgrades
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the pricing. The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza starts at Rs 7.39 lakh (ex-showroom), which is lower than the previous model's starting price of Rs 8.26 lakh.
This has been made possible by the introduction of the new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet engine, which qualifies for lower taxation compared to the larger 1.5-litre engine. As a result, Maruti Suzuki has been able to offer a more affordable entry price while adding more features, better efficiency and an all-new turbo-petrol option.
