Tata Aeris vs Tata Tigor: What’s New?

The biggest change is the exterior design. The Aeris gets a more modern front-end with redesigned LED daytime running lights, a revised grille and updated bumper styling. The sedan also features newly designed alloy wheels and a revised rear section.

The Tigor, in comparison, had a more familiar design that shared several styling elements with Tata’s earlier-generation models. The Aeris brings a more contemporary appearance while retaining the compact sedan proportions.

The cabin of the Aeris has also received an update. The dashboard layout is largely derived from the Tiago, giving the new sedan a more familiar Tata cabin design. It gets a modern infotainment setup along with updated equipment and convenience features.

The Tigor also shared its basic architecture with the Tiago, but the Aeris brings a fresher cabin treatment and updated features as part of its model change.

The Aeris continues with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, producing around 85bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. Tata also offers an i-CNG option with a twin-cylinder setup, producing 74.5bhp and 96.5Nm. Both powertrain options are available with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearboxes.

The outgoing Tigor was also offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, along with a CNG option depending on the variant. The Aeris continues Tata's focus on offering both petrol and CNG powertrain choices, making it suitable for buyers looking for a practical compact sedan.

The Aeris gets a revised equipment list compared with the Tigor. It gets a Lalitpur Grey interior with dual-tone seats, while much of the dashboard and centre console layout is shared with the Tiago. It features a new two-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster with a segmented display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other features include rear AC vents, a wireless charger, horizontal AC vents and a rotary drive selector on automatic variants.

Tata has also focused on improving the overall cabin experience, while the compact dimensions continue to make the car suitable for city driving.

The Aeris is essentially a new-generation take on Tata's compact sedan formula rather than a simple facelift of the Tigor. The biggest differences are its exterior styling, updated cabin and refreshed feature package. However, the core focus remains similar - a compact sedan with a practical cabin, petrol and CNG options and a choice of manual and automated manual transmissions.
