2026 Maruti WagonR facelift has been spotted testing on Indian roads. While the test car is heavily camouflaged, the first spy shots suggest that the 2026 Maruti WagonR facelift may not receive major exterior design changes. Instead, the biggest update could be under the bonnet, with Maruti Suzuki expected to introduce its newer 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine in the WagonR.
Key Highlights:
- 2026 Maruti WagonR facelift spotted testing with heavy camouflage.
- The updated hatchback is expected to get Maruti’s new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine.
- Exterior changes appear limited, with the familiar tall-boy design likely to continue.
- The facelift could launch in India later this year, with a possible price hike.
2026 Maruti WagonR Facelift: Exterior design
The test mule is almost completely covered in camouflage, but its familiar tall-boy proportions and overall silhouette are clearly visible. The front-end layout appears similar to the current WagonR, including the positioning of the headlamps. The turn indicators appear to be mounted on the front fenders rather than on the ORVMs. Fog lamps also appear to be absent from the test vehicle.
The side profile does not show any significant changes, while the rear continues to feature the WagonR’s signature vertically positioned tail lamps placed alongside the rear windscreen. Overall, the facelift could bring minor styling revisions rather than a completely new design.
2026 Maruti WagonR Facelift: Cabin and Features
The spy images do not reveal much about the interior. Maruti Suzuki could, however, introduce feature and equipment updates with the facelift. These could include changes to the infotainment system, convenience features and safety equipment, although the company has not officially revealed details yet.
2026 Maruti WagonR Facelift: Engine
The more significant change could be the introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder petrol engine. The engine has already been introduced in models such as the Swift and Dzire, while the recently updated Baleno has also made the transition from the older 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit.
In the Baleno, the Z12E engine produces 83 PS and 112 Nm. The three-cylinder motor has been developed with a focus on efficiency, but the reduction in cylinder count could also have an impact on refinement.
Three-cylinder engines generally produce more vibrations than comparable four-cylinder units. It will therefore be interesting to see how Maruti Suzuki tunes the engine for the WagonR, particularly given its positioning as a practical family hatchback. The updated WagonR is also expected to continue with the 1.0-litre petrol and CNG powertrain options.
2026 Maruti WagonR Facelift: Expected Price and Launch
The current Maruti WagonR is priced between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi Plus variants. With the facelift expected to bring a new engine and possible feature upgrades, prices could increase slightly. The 2026 WagonR facelift is expected to launch in India later this year, although Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce an official launch date.
