BorgWarner announced a seven-year extension to its supply agreement with a German automotive company in China. The company will continue providing dual-clutch transmission assemblies from its Tianjin facility. The components are used in internal combustion engine and mild hybrid vehicles. The assemblies are designed to improve overall transmission efficiency by lowering rotational inertia, reducing friction losses, and cutting down on leakage.

New Program with Chinese Transmission Manufacturer

In addition to the extension, BorgWarner confirmed a new program with a major Chinese transmission manufacturer. The clutch modules will be supplied for SUVs and sedans built by a leading Chinese automaker. These vehicles will be sold both domestically and in international markets. Production will take place at BorgWarner’s facility in Taicang, with mass production expected to start by the end of 2025.
Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager, Drivetrain and Morse Systems, said, “Our success in securing new projects in the Chinese market underscores BorgWarner's commitment to delivering innovative solutions in the region. We are dedicated to helping our customers grow their business in China and succeed in international markets.”

Focus on Transmission Efficiency

Both programs highlight BorgWarner’s continuing role in supplying dual-clutch components tailored for various powertrains. The clutch modules are designed to support driving performance in a range of operating conditions, including start-stop systems and uphill driving.
