Honda Africa Twin Recalled in India Due to Handlebar Wiring Issue
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a voluntary recall for certain Africa Twin motorcycles produced between 2019 and 2025. The move is part of a global campaign to fix a wiring issue found in the left handlebar switch.
Cause of the Issue
Honda said that due to continuous steering movement of handlebar, the harness wire of the left handle switch experiences repeated bending. Over time, this may lead to oxidation at the joint terminal of the harness wire, causing conduction issues. As a result, the horn may not sound, or there may be difficulty in switching the headlight from low beam to high beam.
Fix and Customer Support
Starting from the fourth week of January 2026, Honda’s BigWing dealerships across India will replace the affected parts free of charge. The service will be available regardless of warranty status. The company will directly contact owners through calls, emails, and messages to arrange inspections.
Previous Recall
This is not the first time that the Africa Twin has been recalled in India. In November 2024, Honda recalled certain units that were manufactured between February and October 2022 due to a issues related to the engine control unit (ECU). That recall was also part of a larger global campaign.
Africa Twin in India
The Africa Twin is powered by a 1,048cc parallel-twin engine that puts out 100.5 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. It was sold in India with options for a 6-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The model was withdrawn from the Indian market following the implementation of BS6 Phase 2 emission standards. Honda is expected to reintroduce the Africa Twin in India in 2026.
