HPCL Is Actively Contributing To India’s 2070 Net Zero Emission Target: HPCL Presents Times Drive Auto Summit And Awards 2025

Amid India’s attempt to achieve carbon neutrality by 2070, Amit Garg, Director of Marketing, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at the HPCL Presents Times Drive Auto Summit and Awards 2025 announced that it has developed a charging infrastructure which currently operates over 5,500 charging stations, including 2,300 fast chargers. The company intends to expand this network to 5,000 stations by the end of the following year.
“Customers can locate these charging stations using the HPCL mobile application. Additionally, HPCL has established partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to broaden its service offerings, including battery swapping options available at more than 90 locations,” Garg added.
The Government of India has set targets under the Panchamrit action plan which includes initiatives such as reaching a non-fossil fuel energy capacity of 500 GW by 2030, fulfilling at least half of its energy requirement via renewable energy by 2030, reducing CO2 emissions by 1 billion tons by 2030, reducing carbon intensity below 45 percent by 2030 and achieve net zero emission target by 2070 which was a target India set itself at the COP26.
Additionally, a key initiative for HPCL which was highlighted by Garg involves the blending of 20% ethanol with its fuel offerings. Furthermore, the company announced its plans to establish its first hydrogen fuel station near Visakhapatnam, signaling a move towards alternative energy sources, helping India reach its targets under the Panchamrit action plan.
