Hyundai Bayon Launched in India: Top 5 Highlights
The Hyundai Bayon is available in seven variants, with bookings open through the company's official website and authorised dealerships. Hyundai has also confirmed that a factory-fitted CNG version will be introduced in 2027. Here are the top five highlights of the new SUV.
1. Hyundai Bayon Gets a Fresh SUV Design
The Hyundai Bayon follows the brand's latest design language, featuring a layered front fascia and a split-headlamp setup. Slim LED daytime running lights run along the front edge of the bonnet, while the main headlamp units are positioned lower down on the bumper.
The front bumper gets black and silver cladding, while the side profile features pronounced wheel arches, sharp character lines and petal-style alloy wheels. Blacked-out pillars give the SUV a floating-roof effect, complemented by roof rails.
At the rear, the Bayon gets LED tail-lamp elements, prominent Bayon lettering on the tailgate, a roof spoiler with an integrated stop lamp and a dual-tone bumper.
The SUV measures 4,245mm in length, 1,810mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm. It also offers 205mm of ground clearance and a claimed boot capacity of 505 litres.
2. Gets Dual 12.3-Inch Displays and Premium Features
The Hyundai Bayon gets a panoramic dashboard layout with two 12.3-inch displays. One serves as the digital instrument cluster, while the other handles infotainment functions. Both screens are housed in a curved arrangement, with a separate panel for climate controls on the centre console.
Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, dual-tone leatherette upholstery, wireless charging, ambient lighting and an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror. The rear seats get adjustable headrests and a two-step reclining function.
The SUV also features Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), which offers online navigation, split-screen functionality, personalised controls and quick-access menus.
Another key addition is a generative AI-powered voice assistant that combines intelligence from Perplexity with voice AI technology from SoundHound AI. It is designed to respond to conversational requests about weather, travel itineraries, hotels, restaurants and nearby attractions.
The Bayon also gets Hyundai Bluelink with more than 70 connected-car functions, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, and over-the-air software updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. Its infotainment system supports multiple languages, including Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu for offline voice commands.
3. 1.5-Litre Petrol Engine With Manual And Automatic Options
The Hyundai Bayon is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine that produces 115hp and 144Nm of peak torque. The same engine is also available in other Hyundai models, including the Creta.
Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT), which is a CVT-type automatic.
The automatic version gets a Dash Boost Mode designed to improve responsiveness during overtaking. Paddle shifters and Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes are also available.
Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency figure of 18.6kmpl for the automatic version. The company has not announced diesel or turbo-petrol engine options for the SUV. A factory-fitted CNG version is planned for 2027, which will expand the Bayon's powertrain choices.
4. Level 2 Pro ADAS And Six Airbags
Safety is another key highlight of the Hyundai Bayon. The SUV gets six airbags, electronic stability control and hill-start assist as standard. Depending on the variant, buyers can also get tyre pressure monitoring, parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.
Higher variants feature Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, which offers 23 driver assistance functions supported by three radars and 12 parking sensors. These functions include forward collision warning and avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot collision warning, driver attention warning and safe exit warning.
The SUV also offers rear cross-traffic collision warning and avoidance assist, a surround-view monitor, a blind-spot view monitor, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, lane following assist and highway driving assist.
Hyundai says the Bayon's body structure uses 69% advanced multi-grade high-strength steel. The structure incorporates multiple load paths and ring-type construction designed to manage crash forces and reduce cabin intrusion.
5. Seven Variants and A CNG Version Coming In 2027
Hyundai has launched the Bayon in seven variants: HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. The SUV is positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai's India lineup. The introductory price starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open through Hyundai's official website and authorised dealerships.
The Bayon will compete with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris in the Indian market. Its combination of connected technology, premium cabin features and ADAS is expected to be a key part of its appeal. Hyundai has also confirmed that a CNG version will join the lineup in 2027. However, the company has not yet announced its price, specifications or variant details.
