Kia India Teases Hybrid and EV Line-Up, Signals Major Product Push

Kia India has teased two new models for the Indian market through a video shared on its social media channels. The upcoming launches include an all-electric vehicle and a hybrid-powered SUV, both of which are expected to make their debut in the second half of July 2026, as per multiple media reports.
Key Highlights:
  • Kia India has teased an all-electric SUV and a hybrid SUV for India.
  • The upcoming models are expected to be the Kia Syros EV and Sorento Hybrid.
  • Syros EV is likely to offer up to 369 km claimed range with Hyundai Inster EV-based battery packs.
  • The hybrid SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh and sit above the Kia Seltos.
Based on the teaser and the company's earlier announcements, the electric model is likely to be the Kia Syros EV, while the hybrid SUV is expected to be based on the global Kia Sorento. Earlier this year, Kia had confirmed at its Global Investor Day that it planned to introduce both the Syros EV and the Sorento Hybrid in India.

Kia Syros EV: What to Expect

The Kia Syros EV will be the electric version of the standard Syros SUV and is expected to use the same K1 platform. Test prototypes of the electric SUV have already been spotted testing on Indian roads.
While the overall shape is expected to remain similar to the petrol-powered Syros, the EV is likely to receive several design updates, including EV-specific styling elements, to distinguish it from the ICE model. It is also expected to offer a feature-rich cabin.
Kia has not officially revealed the battery or motor specifications. However, the Syros EV is expected to borrow battery options from the globally sold Hyundai Inster EV, which is offered with 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. The larger battery delivers a claimed driving range of up to 369km.
The Syros EV is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor. Once launched, it is expected to become the most affordable electric vehicle in Kia India's lineup, positioned below the Carens Clavis EV.

Hybrid SUV Likely to Be Based on the Global Sorento

The second model teased by Kia is expected to be a hybrid SUV based on the global Sorento. While the India-bound version is expected to use the Sorento's platform, it is not yet confirmed whether it will carry the Sorento name or feature the same exterior design.
Earlier reports suggested that Kia has been developing the SUV under the codename MQ4i specifically for India. It is expected to be powered by a hybrid version of a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Official dimensions are yet to be revealed. For reference, the global Kia Sorento measures around 4.8 metres in length and has a wheelbase of approximately 2.8 metres.
The hybrid SUV is expected to be priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be positioned above the Kia Seltos in the brand's lineup and is expected to rival premium three-row SUVs in the segment, including the Mahindra XUV 7XO.
