Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric Launched in India at Rs 55 Lakh, Gets up to 792 Km Range

The Indian division of the German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has today launched the CLA Electric in the country with a starting ex-showroom price tag of Rs 55 lakh. The CLA electric is a coupe-style sedan which is now the entry point into the brand’s EV range in India. Bookings for the CLA electric had begun ahead of the launch for an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh; deliveries for the same are scheduled to commence shortly. Deliveries for the CLA 250+ Long Range will commence by the end of April 2026, while the CLA 200 Standard Range will start from June.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA electric has been launched in three editions the CLA 200 Standard Range, CLA 250+ Long Range and CLA 250+ Launch Edition.

The CLA 200 Standard Range generates a peak power output of 221bhp and 335Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.5 seconds and it has a top speed of 210 kmph.

The CLA 250+ Long Range produces 268bhp and 335Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 210 kmph.

The CLA 250+ Launch Edition develops 268bhp and 335Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 210 kmph.

The CLA electric adopts a coupe-sedan profile with EV-specific elements. The front features a closed panel with illuminated three-pointed star elements and a connected LED light bar. The rear gets a similar full-width lighting signature.

Other highlights include flush door handles and aero-focused alloy wheels. The design focuses on aerodynamic efficiency, with a drag coefficient of 0.21 Cd.

The cabin follows a digital-first layout. The standard setup includes a 10.25-inch driver display and a 14-inch central touchscreen. A passenger-side display is not offered in India. Key features include - electric front seats with heating, memory and massage functions, panoramic glass roof, Dual-zone climate control, Wireless charging, Burmester audio system and more.

On the safety front the Mercedes-Benz CLA electric comes equipped with -

6-airbags, 360-degree camera, Blind-spot monitoring, TPMS, Electronic parking brake and Level-2 ADAS features.

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the CLA electric in three variants - the CLA 200 Standard Range, the CLA 250+ Launch Edition and the CLA 250+ Long Range. The CLA 200 Standard Range is priced at Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom), the CLA 250+ Long Range is priced at Rs 59 lakh (ex-showroom) and the CLA 250+ Launch Edition is priced at Rs 64 lakh (ex-showroom).

The introduction of the CLA 200 Standard Range marks a change in plan, as the model was initially intended to be launched only in the CLA 250+ Long Range version. The additional variant has been introduced following customer feedback for a lower entry price.

The CLA 250+ Long Range comes with AMG Line exterior and interior elements, while the CLA 200 Standard Range features the Progressive Line styling package.

The all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA range houses a 85 kWh battery pack and is based on an 800-volt architecture. The CLA 200 Standard Range has a claimed WLTP range of up to 542 km. The CLA 250+ Long Range and the CLA 250+ Launch Edition boast a claimed WLTP range of up to 792 km.

The CLA electric supports DC Fast Charging. Using a 240 kW DC fast charger, the CLA 250+ Long Range and the CLA 250+ Launch Edition can add up to 400 km of range in around 20 minutes. Under the same conditions, the CLA 200 Standard Range can add approximately 320 km of range in about 20 minutes.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric enters a segment that includes models such as the BMW iX1, BYD Seal and Tesla Model Y.
