Mercedes-Benz GLA 250, AMG GLA 35 Recalled in US Over Headlight Issue
Mercedes-Benz USA has initiated a voluntary recall for 136 vehicles from its 2024 GLA series, including the GLA 250 and AMG GLA 35 4MATIC models. A production error by a supplier may affect headlight adjustments, potentially leading to increased glare and crash risks. The affected units, produced between October 17, 2023, and January 26, 2024, could result in improper aiming if adjusted inaccurately at independent workshops. Authorized dealers will inspect and replace headlights as needed. Vehicles made after January 29, 2024, are unaffected.
Mercedes-Benz GLA 250, AMG GLA 35 Recalled in US Over Headlight Issue
Mercedes-Benz USA has announced a Voluntary recall covering 136 vehicles from its 2024 GLA lineup, including the GLA 250, GLA 250 4MATIC and AMG GLA 35 4MATIC due to a supplier production error, could affect proper headlight adjustment at independent workshops, increasing the risk of glare and crashes. The affected vehicles were produced between October 17, 2023 and January 26, 2024
According to the report filed by Mercedes Benz to NHTSA," The affected vehicles left the plant with the correct headlight adjustment since the plant does not use this marking point. However, headlight adjustment using the wall projection method in an independent workshop might not be performed according to the requirements specified in FMVSS 108. As a consequence, the headlights might not be aimed correctly, which might lead to glare for oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
"Due to a deviation in the production process of a supplier, a certain batch of headlights might not meet specifications. The driver will not receive a warning due to the nature of the failure mechanism," report added.
The company confirmed there are no warranty claims, service reports, or field complaints linked to the defect. Still, Mercedes-Benz determined on August 1, 2025, that a potential non-compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108 could not be ruled out, prompting the recall.
Authorized dealers will inspect the headlights on affected vehicles and replace them if necessary. Mercedes-Benz noted that vehicles manufactured after January 29, 2024, are not affected, as the supplier corrected its production process.
