New Bajaj Pulsar N160 S, N160 SS Launched In India: What's New?
Bajaj Auto has introduced the Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS models in India, priced at Rs 1,33,511 and Rs 1,42,585. Both models have enhanced suspension and braking systems, while the existing N160 will still be available.

New Bajaj Pulsar N160 S, N160 SS Launched In India: What's New?
Bajaj Auto has expanded the Pulsar N160 range in India with the launch of the new Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS. Priced at Rs 1,33,511 and Rs 1,42,585 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively, the new variants bring a significant mechanical upgrade over the existing N160.
The biggest highlight is the new four-valve engine, which gets oil cooling and an electronic throttle. Bajaj has also added multiple riding modes, traction control, improved suspension hardware and a larger front brake, making the new N160 variants considerably more feature-rich.

New Bajaj Pulsar N160 S, N160 SS: Engine
The biggest update comes under the skin. The new Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS use a 164.5cc, single-cylinder, four-valve engine that produces 18bhp at 9,500rpm and 14.4Nm at 8,000rpm.
Bajaj claims a 0-60kmph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.
For comparison, the existing N160 uses a 164.9cc two-valve engine that produces 15.5bhp at 8,750rpm and 14.65Nm at 6,750rpm. The new engine therefore offers a noticeable increase in peak power, although peak torque is slightly lower.
The new motor is also oil-cooled and uses an electronic throttle body, replacing the air-cooled engine and mechanical throttle setup of the existing motorcycle. A five-speed gearbox continues to be offered.
Four Riding Modes and Crawl Technology
The electronic throttle has allowed Bajaj to introduce a more advanced electronics package on the new N160 variants. Both motorcycles get four throttle-linked riding modes - Road, Rain, Sport and Off-Road.
These modes are designed to change the bike's throttle response depending on riding conditions, rather than simply altering the information displayed on the instrument cluster.
Another new feature is Crawl Technology, which helps the motorcycle move smoothly at low speeds even when the bike is in a higher gear. This should reduce the need for frequent clutch operation and gear changes in slow-moving traffic.
N160 SS Gets Traction Control and TFT Display
The higher-spec N160 SS gets additional electronic features. It comes with a traction control system that works through the electronic throttle and is designed to reduce wheelspin when road grip changes.
The SS variant also gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity and Google Maps navigation. Bajaj claims the system is the first of its kind on an Indian sports motorcycle, as it can mirror Google Maps directly onto the display rather than showing only basic turn-by-turn arrows.
The N160 S gets a simpler LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
The braking and control equipment also differs between the two variants. The N160 S gets single-channel ABS, while the N160 SS gets dual-channel ABS. Adjustable levers are also available on the SS, while the S uses fixed levers.
Bigger USD Forks and Brakes
Bajaj has also upgraded the chassis hardware on both four-valve variants. The existing N160 uses 33mm USD front forks, while the new N160 S and SS get larger 37mm USD forks.
A rear monoshock continues to handle suspension duties.
Braking hardware has been upgraded as well. The new variants get a 300mm front disc, compared with the 280mm unit on the existing two-valve N160. At the rear, both new bikes use a 230mm disc brake.
The rear tyre is now a wider 130/70-17 radial unit, while the front continues with a 100/80-17 tyre. Fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 14 litres.
Sharper Styling and New Colours
The overall streetfighter design of the Pulsar N160 has been retained, but the new variants receive sharper graphics and coloured alloy wheels.
Bajaj has also revised the handlebar angle and seat-height arrangement on the N160 SS to improve rider comfort.
The new Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS will be available in three colour options: Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White and Brooklyn Black.
Existing Pulsar N160 To Continue
Despite the arrival of the new four-valve versions, Bajaj Auto will continue to sell the existing Pulsar N160 alongside the N160 S and N160 SS. This gives buyers more choice, with the new variants positioned as the more powerful and feature-packed versions of the motorcycle.
