Nissan Gravite to Make Global Debut in India on January 21
Nissan India has announced that it will unveil the Gravite compact MPV on January 21, 2026. The Gravite will be the first of three new models planned for the Indian market by 2027, followed by the Tekton and a new seven-seater C-SUV. The company has confirmed that prices will be announced closer to the start of sales in March 2026.
Platform and Positioning
The Gravite is based on the CMF-A+ platform, which it shares with the Renault Triber. It will be Nissan’s first compact MPV for India and its second MPV overall after the Evalia. The vehicle will measure under four metres in length, placing it in the lower tax bracket applicable to small cars in India.
Nissan Gravite: Exterior Design
Teaser images released by Nissan suggest that the Gravite’s overall shape and proportions are similar to the Triber. To create differentiation, Nissan has made changes to the front and rear styling. These include a revised grille with chrome elements, connected LED daytime running lights, a redesigned bumper, and updated lighting signatures. The bonnet features more defined creases. At the rear, the MPV gets new LED tail-lamps, a reworked bumper and the Gravite name displayed on the tailgate. New alloy wheels and roof rails are also expected.
Nissan Gravite: Interior
Interior images have not yet been shared. Based on current information, the Gravite is expected to offer a three-row seating layout similar to the Triber. Likely features include a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, push-button start/stop, steering-mounted controls and air-conditioning vents for the second and third rows. The third row is expected to be removable to increase boot space when required.
Nissan Gravite: Safety Features
Safety features expected on the Gravite include six airbags, ABS, traction control, hill-hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Final specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
Nissan Gravite: Engine and Transmission
Power is expected to come from a 1.0L, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, shared with the Triber. This engine produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque and will be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed AMT. A dealer-level CNG retrofit option is also expected to be available.
Production and Exports
Production of the Nissan Gravite will take place at Nissan’s Chennai manufacturing facility. The company has stated that India will serve as a production and export base for the model, with shipments planned to multiple international markets.
Expected Pricing
Nissan is expected to price the Gravite in the range of Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Final pricing details will be announced at the time of launch in March 2026.......
