Suzuki Katana: Engine

The Katana was powered by a 999cc, inline four cylinder engine producing 150 bhp and 106Nm of torque mated a six-speed gearbox, bi-directional quickshifter and multiple electronic rider aids including traction control, drive modes, ride by wire throttle and low RPM assist. On the hardware side, it featured fully adjustable USD forks, a rear monoshock, 17-inch alloy wheels and disc brakes at both ends.

Position in the Market

The Katana was Suzuki’s only 1000cc four-cylinder model in India and shared much of its platform with the GSX-S1000. Its closest rival was Honda’s CB1000 Hornet SP, priced at ₹12.36 lakh. Despite its specifications, the Katana struggled with sales in India and was often available at discounted prices.

Both the GSX-8R and V-Strom 800DE are powered by a 776cc parallel twin engine.
