Tata Aeris Launched in India: Top 5 Highlights

The Tata Aeris sedan has been launched in India today with prices starting at Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The Aeris is the successor to the Tigor and is positioned exclusively for private buyers. Like its predecessor the Aeris continues with petrol and iCNG engine options. Transmission options include MT and AMT. The Aeris gets a new cabin, connected technology and six airbags as standard. Here are the top five highlights of the new Tata Aeris.

Tata Cars formerly known as Tata Motors has introduced the Aeris sedan in the Indian market in five variants - Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished. The Aeris is available in an introductory ex-showroom price range of Rs 5.29 lakh to Rs 9.74 lakh.

2. Tata Aeris: Design

The Tata Aeris gets a redesigned exterior with changes to the front and rear sections. The sedan features LED headlamps, LED DRLs and a wide lower grille at the front. It also gets diamond-cut aero alloy wheels and a revised overall stance. At the rear, the car features a prominent deck lid and Infinity Connected LED tail-lamps. Other design elements include a dual-tone black roof, Cosmo Grain textured wheel-arch cladding and chrome-line door handles. The exterior design is intended to give the Aeris a separate identity from the fleet-focused Xpres-T range.

3. Tata Aeris: Features

The cabin gets several technology and comfort features, including AeroLux ventilated leatherette seats, an OpenView dashboard and dual-screen displays. The infotainment system is a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen unit, while the digital instrument cluster measures 12.7 cm. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Tata's iRA connected-car technology offers more than 35 connected features.

One of the key features is the Dual Smartphone Deck with wireless charging, which Tata says is a first-in-segment feature. The Aeris also gets automatic climate control, rear AC vents and 65W Type-C fast chargers. The sedan has a 419-litre boot, while the twin-cylinder iCNG setup has been packaged to retain the practicality of the boot.

The Aeris comes with six airbags as standard. Tata Motors says the sedan uses Ultra High Strength Steel and has been engineered around its Passenger Vehicles Safety Dome concept. The standard safety equipment includes Electronic Stability Program, ABS with EBD and CSC, Hill Hold Control and ISOFIX child-seat anchors. The sedan also gets a Blind View Monitor and MultiView Digital Video Recorder, along with a 360-degree SVS HD camera offering 2D and 3D views. Other equipment includes automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a rear defogger. The iCNG versions additionally feature leak detection, thermal incident protection and rear crash protection measures.

The Tata Aeris is available with two powertrain choices - petrol and iCNG. The petrol version uses Tata's 1.2-litre Revotron engine, available with a five-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The iCNG version also gets manual and AMT transmission options. The availability of an iCNG AMT is one of the key points in the Aeris line-up. Tata Motors says the twin-cylinder iCNG technology helps with packaging while retaining the practical benefits of a sedan.
