Tesla Cybercab Technical Specifications Revealed, Gets 219Bhp Output and up to 480Km Range
Tesla Cybercab (robotaxi) has appeared in certification documents filed with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), revealing key technical specifications ahead of its market debut. The filing provides details about the vehicle's battery pack, powertrain, weight and estimated driving range.
The documents suggest that the Cybercab has been developed with a focus on efficiency and autonomous ride-hailing operations rather than outright performance. One of the biggest revelations from the EPA filing is the Cybercab's drivetrain configuration. Unlike current Tesla models that use rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive layouts, the Cybercab employs a front-wheel-drive setup.
Power comes from a single permanent magnet electric motor mounted on the front axle. The motor develops 163 kW, equivalent to around 219bhp, and is paired with a single-speed transmission. The front-mounted motor arrangement is expected to simplify packaging while reducing the number of drivetrain components. The EPA documents reveal that the Cybercab is equipped with a 47.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
According to the certification papers, the Cybercab recorded an unadjusted combined EPA range of 673 km. The highway cycle figure stands at 604 km. After applying the EPA's standard adjustment factors that better reflect real-world conditions, the estimated driving range drops to around 471 km. This is close to Tesla's earlier claim of approximately 482 km on a single charge.
The filing also reveals a curb weight of approximately 1,412 kg. That makes the Cybercab lighter than the Tesla Model 3 despite carrying a sizeable battery pack and the hardware required for autonomous operation. The Tesla Cybercab is designed as a two-seater which can function without conventional driver controls such as a steering wheel and pedals, highlighting its intended role as a fully autonomous vehicle.
While the EPA filing reveals several technical details, Tesla is yet to announce charging speeds, pricing, production timelines or deployment plans for the Cybercab. The latest certification documents, however, provide the clearest indication so far that Tesla's dedicated robotaxi programme is moving closer to production.
