Pioneer Corporation announced that it will start manufacturing in-car products in India from 2026. This move follows the company’s decision to set up an R&D center in the country in 2023.

Focus on Local Manufacturing

Pioneer aims to collaborate with local contractors for production. The company plans to manufacture Display Audio systems initially and may expand to other in-car products for both automakers and retail customers.

Strengthening Business with Automakers

By producing in India, Pioneer seeks to improve its supply chain efficiency. Local manufacturing is expected to shorten delivery timelines, enable product customization based on regional requirements, and enhance after-sales support.
Shiro Yahara, President and CEO of Pioneer Corporation, said, “We are excited to start the manufacture of in-car products in India. The shift to local production will enable us to better serve local automakers close to their home turf. It is a huge step forward for Pioneer to become one of the key players in the fast-growing Indian auto industry and to drive the growth of our global business in the long term.”

Alignment with ‘Make in India’

Pioneer’s decision aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, which promotes local manufacturing. The company sees India as a key market outside Japan and aims to establish a complete value chain in the country, including sales, R&D, manufacturing and post-sales services.
Aniket Kulkarni, Managing Director of Pioneer India Electronics, said, “With the start of local production, we are confident that our commitment to India will become stronger than ever. By establishing closer partnerships with local automotive manufacturers, we will provide a wider range of products and services to meet the needs of evolving Indian automotive customers.”

Future Plans

The company has not yet disclosed details on the manufacturing location or investment amount. However, it has stated that further expansion of production capabilities will be considered based on market demand.
