Top Selling Car Brands in India for July 2026: Maruti Suzuki Leads, Followed by Tata Motors, Mahindra and Others

The domestic car sales results for July 2026 are out. Last month the top six carmakers together posted a combined sales of 4,32,289 units. This was higher than their combined sales of 3,22,435 units in July 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of around 34.1 percent.

1. Maruti Suzuki: 1,96,203 Units

Maruti Suzuki sold 1,96,203 passenger vehicles in India in July 2026, making it the country's largest-selling carmaker for the month. Maruti Suzuki had sold 1,37,776 passenger vehicles in July 2025. Its sales therefore increased by 58,427 units, resulting in a 42.40 percent year-on-year growth based on the reported sales figures. Maruti Suzuki's July 2026 sales were more than three times those of Tata Motors, which ranked second among the six carmakers covered in this report.

2. Tata Motors: 62,611 Units

Tata Motors sold 62,611 passenger vehicles in the Indian market in July 2026, compared with 39,521 units in July 2025. The increase was 23,090 units year-on-year. Based on these sales figures, Tata Motors recorded a 58.42 percent year-on-year growth, the highest percentage increase among the top six carmakers last month.

3. Mahindra: 60,048 Units

Mahindra sold 60,048 passenger vehicles in India in July 2026, compared with 49,871 units in July 2025. Mahindra's sales increased by 10,177 units over the same month last year. This translates into a 20.40 percent year-on-year growth. Mahindra ranked third in terms of monthly sales, with its July 2026 volume only 2,563 units lower than Tata Motors.

4. Hyundai: 54,210 Units

Hyundai sold 54,210 passenger vehicles in India in July 2026, compared with 43,973 units in July 2025. The difference was 10,237 units, giving Hyundai a 23.28 percent year-on-year growth based on the reported sales figures. Hyundai ranked fourth among the six carmakers, behind Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra.

5. Toyota: 30,516 Units

Toyota sold 30,516 passenger vehicles in India in July 2026, compared with 29,159 units in July 2025. Toyota's sales increased by 1,357 units year-on-year. This translates into a 4.65 percent growth. Toyota recorded the lowest year-on-year growth among the six carmakers covered in this report.

6. Kia: 28,200 Units

Kia sold 28,200 passenger vehicles in India in July 2026, compared with 22,135 units in July 2025. Kia's sales increased by 6,065 units, resulting in a 27.40 percent year-on-year growth. Kia ranked sixth among the six brands in terms of July 2026 domestic passenger vehicle sales.

What do July 2026 Car Sales Numbers Depict?

The July 2026 car sales rankings were dominated by Maruti Suzuki, which sold over 1.96 lakh units of passenger vehicles. Tata Motors and Mahindra followed with 62,611 and 60,048 units, respectively.
In terms of year-on-year growth, Tata Motors recorded the highest increase at 58.42 percent, followed by Maruti Suzuki at 42.40 percent and Kia at 27.40 percent. Hyundai recorded 23.28 percent growth, while Mahindra grew 20.40 percent. Toyota reported the lowest growth among these six manufacturers at 4.65 percent.
The difference between sales volumes and growth rates is also notable. Maruti Suzuki sold more than three times as many vehicles as Tata Motors in July 2026, but Tata Motors registered a higher percentage increase over its July 2025 sales.
