Triumph appears to be preparing another update for its 400cc motorcycle range. A new test mule of the upcoming Triumph Tracker 400 has been spotted with an updated instrument console and revised switchgear. The motorcycle appears to borrow these components from the recently unveiled Bonneville T40, indicating that Triumph could be planning to bring more technology to its entry-level premium motorcycles.
Key Highlights:
  • Triumph Tracker 400 spotted with a new 4-inch circular TFT display.
  • Updated switchgear appears to be borrowed from the Bonneville T40.
  • The new display could support smartphone connectivity and Google Maps navigation.
  • Expected to retain the 349cc liquid-cooled engine producing 40 bhp and 32 Nm.
The biggest change spotted on the test mule is the new 4-inch circular TFT instrument cluster. The display appears similar to the unit introduced on the Bonneville T40. It is expected to bring features such as smartphone connectivity, music and call management, along with Google Maps navigation mirroring.
The motorcycle has also been spotted with revised switchgear, suggesting changes to its handlebar control layout. These updates could make the Tracker 400 more technology-focused and bring it closer to Triumph's newer offerings.
However, Triumph and its partner Bajaj have not officially confirmed these changes. It is also unclear whether the updated equipment will be offered as standard or introduced through a new variant.

More Electronic Features Could Be Added

The new TFT display and switchgear could indicate the addition of more electronic rider aids. The technology package introduced with the Bonneville T40 includes ride-by-wire, multiple riding modes and traction control. Other features associated with this package include lean-sensitive cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, self-cancelling turn indicators and an emergency deceleration warning system.
The riding modes could include Road, Rain, Eco and a customisable Rider mode. However, it remains unclear which of these features will make it to the production-spec Tracker 400.

Triumph Tracker 400: Engine and Performance

Mechanically, the Triumph Tracker 400 is expected to continue with the 349cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This motor produces 40 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
The engine setup is expected to remain unchanged despite the possible technology upgrades. More details about the motorcycle's final specifications are likely to emerge as testing progresses.

Triumph Tracker 400: Launch Timeline

Triumph has not announced an official launch timeline for the updated Tracker 400. The latest spy shots suggest that the motorcycle is still undergoing testing.
The introduction of the new TFT display could also indicate that Triumph is considering similar updates for other motorcycles in its 400cc range, including the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. However, there is no official confirmation about these models receiving the updated equipment.
