The Triumph Trident 800 houses a 798cc inline 3-cylinder petrol engine derived from the Tiger 800. The engine produces 113.42 bhp and 85 Nm of torque. This engine comes to a 6-speed gearbox with Triumph Shift Assist, enabling clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Its setup features a revised intake system, triple throttle bodies and forged internals to improve response and tractability across the rev range.
The chassis uses a steel perimeter frame supported by a fully adjustable Showa suspension system with 41 mm upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment. Braking is handled by twin 310 mm discs with four-piston radial calipers up front. It weighs about 198kg and it sports Michelin tyres mounted on gold-finished 17-inch alloy wheels.
Electronics include cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, and three riding modes - Road, Sport, and Rain. Other features include cruise control, the My Triumph Bluetooth system for smartphone connectivity, and a 3.5-inch TFT display that integrates navigation, music and call functions. The lighting setup is fully LED with self-cancelling indicators.
On the design front, the Trident 800 retains the compact proportions of the 660 while introducing a few distinct details like - a new headlight cowl, a two-piece stepped seat and a right-mounted exhaust outlet. The 14-litre tank gets brushed aluminium elements, while colour options include Ash Grey with Diablo Red, Carnival Red with Graphite and Jet Black.
Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer, Triumph Motorcycles said, “With the Trident 800, we’ve focused on delivering the kind of performance and character that riders want in the real world. The all-new engine with triple throttle bodies provides maximum engagement on everyday roads, and we’ve paired that with a lightweight, high-spec chassis and adjustable Showa suspension.”
