Maruti Suzuki Inaugurates Two Automated Driving Test Tracks In Uttarakhand
Maruti Suzuki has opened two Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) in Uttarakhand, located in Haridwar and Rishikesh, as part of its CSR efforts. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, these tracks utilize advanced technology, including high-definition cameras, to streamline the driving license assessment without human involvement. This initiative aims to enhance road safety by ensuring that only qualified drivers obtain licenses, following Central Motor Vehicle Rules. The company has operated a similar facility in Dehradun since 2019, showing improved pass rates over time.
Two Automated Driving Test Tracks Open In Uttarakhand By Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki recently inaugurated two Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) in Uttarakhand under its CSR initiative. The Automated Driving Test Tracks are set up in Haridwar and Rishikesh and were inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Additionally, the ADTTs are equipped with high-definition cameras and integrated IT systems to conduct driving license evaluations without human intervention. The technology ensures a comprehensive, efficient, and transparent testing process for driving license seekers. Moreover, evaluation at ADTTs is conducted as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR).
Both new ADTTs will cater to driving license testing for Light Motor Vehicle (LMV), and 2-wheelers. In addition to automation of these two ADTTs, Maruti Suzuki operates an ADTT in Dehradun since 2019.
“We are committed to making Uttarakhand's roads safer, and Maruti Suzuki's ADTTs are an important enabler in this direction. Our association with Maruti Suzuki goes back to 2009, when the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research was established in Dehradun. With the comprehensive evaluation at ADTTs, we can ensure that only skilled drivers get a driving license,” Brijesh Kumar Sant (IAS), Secretary Transport, Uttarakhand Government, said.
The company further stated that an initial decline is usually observed in the pass percentage of driving license seekers at ADTTs, due to automated testing processes. This is followed by a gradual increase in pass rate, as the applicants come better prepared, ensuring only skilled drivers receive a license. In the case of Dehradun ADTT, the pass percentage declined to 60% in FY 2019-20, which has progressively improved to 69%.

“We thank the Uttarakhand Government for their continued association with Maruti Suzuki. One of the key growth drivers for the state is tourism. Efficient and skilled drivers are needed to boost tourism and contribute to safer roads. Our Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) can play a vital role to achieve this goal by ensuring that only skilled and competent drivers receive a license through a 100% computerized, transparent, and efficient testing process,” Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said.
