Yohan Poonawalla Purchases India’s Most Expensive Car: Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII EWB

A recent post on social media highlighted that businessman Yohan Poonawalla has purchased arguably the most expensive car in India. A video of the same was uploaded and shared on Instagram by viralbhayani. The post shared on social media stated that this is the 22nd Rolls Royce purchased by the business tycoon. The car in question here is the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII Extended Wheelbase (EWB) which reportedly costs about Rs 22 crore. The post also claimed that this is the most expensive car in India. Also the video has received over 9.3 million views on the social media platform in just one day.

The Rolls Royce Phantom VIII EWB is an epitome of luxury and the vehicle purchased by Yohan Poonawalla is finished in a Bohemian Red color and features 22-inch alloy wheels. It exhibits the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament finished in solid gold and custom-painted ‘P’ emblems on the rear quarter panels. The car also has an illuminated grille, starlight headlights, and a privacy suite, which adds a partition between the front and rear seats. Rolls-Royce had discontinued the privacy suite, but it was included at Poonawalla’s request.

The Phantom VIII EWB is powered by a 6.75L twin-turbocharged V12 engine that generates a peak power output of 571 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. It comes with an automatic transmission.

This Phantom VIII EWB is the 22nd Rolls-Royce in Poonawalla’s collection. His fleet also includes the Rolls-Royce Spectre, the brand’s first electric car and other models such as the Phantom VII and Drophead Convertible. In 2024, Poonawalla had also acquired Queen Elizabeth II’s customized 2016 Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography LWB.
