New BMW R 1300 R Breaks Cover With Fresh Engine And Revised Chassis
BMW Motorrad has introduced the updated R 1300 R, featuring a redesigned engine, new chassis components, and added features for both everyday and touring use. The motorcycle comes in four variants and includes changes aimed at improving handling and comfort.
BMW R 1300 R
BMW unveiled the new BMW R 1300 R roadster globally with an updated boxer engine. The model now includes a new engine design, a revised chassis and added features for touring and rider assistance.
BMW R 1300 R: Engine and Performance
The BMW R 1300 R is powered by a new 1,300cc two-cylinder boxer engine that puts out 143 bhp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Changes include a wider bore and a shorter stroke, resulting in a higher engine capacity.
BMW R 1300 R: Chassis and Suspension
BMW has redesigned the front and rear suspension. The R 1300 R now uses an upside-down telescopic front fork and an updated EVO Paralever rear suspension. New 17-inch alloy wheels reduce overall weight by more than 1.4 kg, contributing to better handling and response.
BMW R 1300 R: Ergonomics and Riding Position
The seating triangle—formed by the handlebars, seat and footrests—has been adjusted to move the rider forward. This setup aims to offer more control without compromising the ability to ride long distances. Various seat height options are available, with a focus on keeping seat height below 790 mm.

The R 1300 R comes in four versions:
