Royal Enfield recently debuted the Classic 650 at the EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy, with the India launch expected to take place in the coming weeks. The upcoming Classic 650 will directly go up against the BSA Goldstar 650 launched earlier this year. Here's how the two 650cc motorcycles fare against each other on paper.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is a slightly larger motorcycle than the BSA Goldstar 650 in all aspects. The RE 650cc bike is 112mm longer, 75mm wider, 44mm taller, and has a 50mm longer wheelbase. The Classic 650 also has 2.8 litres of extra fuel capacity, but the BSA Goldstar 650 is about 30 kg lighter and has a 20 mm lower seat height. The ground clearance on both the bikes is relatively similar, with the Royal Enfield posting a marginally better clearance by 4 mm.

The Classic 650 is offered with Royal Enfield's 648 cc, air-cooled, SOHC, twin cylinder engine seen on its other 650 cc motorcycles. In this spec, it puts out 46.4 bhp along with 52.3 Nm of peak torque, and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the BSA Goldstar 650 gets a 652 cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single cylinder engine producing 45 bhp and 55 Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed transmission. The BSA Goldstar 650 also has a higher fuel efficiency of 24.99 kpl as compared to Classic 650's 21.46 kpl.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is built on a steel tubular spine frame that is suspended on 43 mm telescopic forks at the front, coupled with twin shock absorbers at the back. The BSA Goldstar 650 has a double-cradle tubular frame with 41 mm front telescopic forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear with 5-step pre-load adjustment. Both bikes get a 320 mm front disc brake, while the Classic 650's 300 mm rear disc brake is larger than Goldstar 650's 255 mm unit. The Classic 650 runs on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear tyres, while the Goldstar 650 gets an 18-inch front and 17-inch unit at the back.
