2024 Dacia Duster Achieves 3 Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

The 2024 Dacia Duster has undergone Euro NCAP safety assessments, earning a 70% score for adult occupants, 84% for child occupants, 60% for vulnerable road users, and 57% for safety assist features.

In the adult occupant category, the Duster achieved a total of 28.1 points. It demonstrated good protection for knees and femurs in the frontal offset test, although chest protection for the driver was rated as weak. The full-width rigid barrier test revealed marginal protection for the chest of both the driver and the rear passenger. Side impact tests, however, showed good protection for all critical body areas, earning the Duster maximum points in these scenarios. Despite these positives, the Duster lacked far-side collision protection, resulting in a poor rating for this aspect.

For vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, the Duster scored 38.2 points. While the car's active emergency braking system performed adequately, especially in daylight scenarios, it did not offer protection against dooring incidents involving cyclists. The car also showed poor protection for the pelvis in pedestrian impacts.

The child occupant protection category saw the Duster scoring 41.6 points out of a possible 50. It provided excellent protection for both 6 and 10-year-old dummies in frontal and side impacts. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated to accommodate rearward-facing child restraints, a feature that was rewarded in the safety assessment. However, the vehicle does not have a child presence detection system.

In terms of safety assist, the Duster scored 10.3 points. It comes equipped with various standard safety systems, including an advanced eCall system, fatigue and distraction detection and a lane support system.
