2026 Toyota RAV4 Unveiled With All-Electrified Line-Up And New GR SPORT Variant
Toyota has introduced the sixth-generation RAV4 in the U.S. with updated hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems, a broader grade lineup and new software and multimedia technologies. The compact SUV will be offered only with electrified powertrains.

Toyota Motor North America has announced the 2026 RAV4, which marks the start of the sixth generation of the compact SUV. The updated model will be available exclusively with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, eliminating non-electrified options. The lineup includes three design themes—Core, Rugged and Sport—across seven model grades.
Electrified Powertrains Only
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 will be offered in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) formats. The PHEV variant features Toyota’s new sixth-generation system, delivering a manufacturer-estimated 315.6 horsepower and up to 50 miles of all-electric range. All PHEV grades include all-wheel drive as standard.
The HEV models have also been updated with a new fifth-generation hybrid system. The all-wheel-drive version now produces a combined output of 232.7 bhp, while a new front-wheel-drive version is introduced with 223 bhp. This is the first time front-wheel drive is offered on RAV4 hybrids.

2026 Toyota RAV4: Expanded Lineup and New GR SPORT Model
A new GR SPORT grade has also been introduced, developed with input from Toyota GAZOO Racing. It will be available only as a PHEV with all-wheel drive. It features changes to suspension and steering systems for improved handling. The GR SPORT joins SE, XSE and Woodland grades in the PHEV lineup.
The Woodland model also returns with changes including higher ride height, all-terrain tires and design updates. Both XSE and Woodland PHEV grades will support DC fast charging.

2026 Toyota RAV4: Technology and Software Upgrades
The 2026 RAV4 will be the first to include Toyota’s new Arene software platform. This supports Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and a revised Toyota Audio Multimedia system. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard, while a 10.5- or 12.9-inch central touchscreen is available depending on the model.
Additional features include a new shift-by-wire system on select grades, standard six-speaker or available nine-speaker JBL audio and an optional Head-Up Display on higher variants.

The sixth-generation RAV4 continues to use the TNGA-K platform. Toyota has made structural improvements, including reinforcement of frame joints and suspension mounts, along with the use of sound-deadening materials. Exterior changes include updated LED lighting and design elements specific to each model grade.

2026 Toyota RAV4: Availability and Color Options
New colors include Meteor Shower, Everest and Storm Cloud. The Woodland grade offers a unique Urban Rock paint. Two-tone color options are also available depending on the grade.
The 2026 RAV4 is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships later in 2025. Pricing details will be announced closer to the launch date.
