Citroen C3 Now Available With Factory-Approved CNG Retrofit Kit In India

The CNG kit enables the vehicle to run on both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG). According to the company, the retrofitted system offers a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 28.1 km/kg. The cost per kilometre is estimated at around Rs 2.66 when running on CNG. The dual-fuel system also allows users to switch between petrol and CNG, addressing concerns related to fuel availability.

The retrofitment is compatible with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol variants of the C3, specifically the Live, Feel, Feel (O) and Shine trims. The system is integrated to avoid loss of boot space and the spare wheel remains accessible. The CNG nozzle is positioned within the petrol filler area for convenience.

The retrofitted CNG system is covered under Citroën’s standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, along with coverage for specific CNG components. Each installation is carried out using certified parts and processes at company-authorised workshops. Pre-delivery checks include cylinder safety, pressure regulation, leak tests and proper fuel-switching operations.

To accommodate the added load from the CNG system, the vehicle receives a rear suspension update. This includes reinforced springs, tuned shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar for stable performance.
