At the Pebble Beach Automotive Week, Mercedes-AMG introduced the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport, a special model marking 130 years of motorsport. This limited edition is significant as the final variant of the AMG GT3 to feature a naturally aspirated 6.3L V8 engine. The engine has been optimized to deliver 670 bhp, making it the most powerful GT3 car ever built by Mercedes-AMG.
The vehicle's aerodynamics have been extensively refined, resulting in a 15% increase in downforce compared to the standard GT3 model. Key changes include a redesigned front splitter, modified side skirts, and a larger rear wing. The car also incorporates a Drag Reduction System (DRS) similar to those used in Formula 1, allowing for higher top speeds.
In terms of performance, the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport set a new lap record for GT cars at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Australia. Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver Jules Gounon achieved this milestone, underscoring the car’s capabilities.
The design of the vehicle pays homage to Mercedes-Benz’s racing history, particularly the 1952 300 SL W 194. The car features a unique silver paint finish with blue accents, reminiscent of the classic Silver Arrows. Inside, the vehicle blends advanced motorsport technology with retro design cues, including a blue checkered fabric for the seats and brown leather details.
Each of the 13 units comes with a comprehensive package, including race gear, a car cover, a 1:8 scale model, and a personalized certificate. The retail price for this exclusive model is EUR 1,030,000 (excluding VAT).
