Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line More Details Revealed Ahead Of Its Launch

Volkswagen has released more details about the upcoming Tiguan R-Line ahead of its launch on April 14. Bookings for the SUV began on March 25. The model will be available as a completely built unit (CBU) in India and comes with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine, all-wheel drive and several interior and technology features.

The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line features a new design with LED Plus headlights, a horizontal LED strip at the rear and air curtains for optimized airflow. The SUV has a bold front profile with a glass-covered horizontal strip on the grille. It rides on 19-inch "Coventry" alloy wheels with diamond-turned surfaces and features illuminated door handles. The rear design includes animated 3D LED combination lamps.

The Tiguan R-Line will be available in six monotone color options: Persimmon Red Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Cipressino Green Metallic and Oyster Silver Metallic.

Inside, the Tiguan R-Line includes a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Volkswagen’s MIB4 operating system with over-the-air update capability. The cabin has sports seats with an 'R' badge, a drive mode selector and customizable ambient lighting with 30 color options. A panoramic sunroof is also included.

Other interior features include a three-zone climate control system (Air Care Climatronic), illuminated dashboard elements and brushed stainless steel pedals. The SUV also has an inductive charging system for two smartphones and Park Assist Plus with Park Distance Control.

The Tiguan R-Line is powered by a 2.0L, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine producing 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque and gets Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The company claims that the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 229 kmph.

Bookings for the Tiguan R-Line started on March 25 through Volkswagen India's website and dealerships. The SUV will be imported as a CBU and its launch is scheduled for April 14.
