EKA Mobility Receives PLI Certificate From ARAI For Electric Bus Platform
The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) awarded EKA Mobility the Automotive PLI certificate under the Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) category. ARAI is the designated testing and certification agency under the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
This certification confirms that EKA Mobility’s electric bus platform meets the requirements outlined in the PLI scheme, which aims to support advanced vehicle technologies and increase local manufacturing.
Platform Based on Modular Design
EKA’s certified electric bus platform is based on a modular structure. This allows the vehicle to be adapted to different lengths and configurations depending on operational needs.
The company states that the platform is developed with locally sourced components and is aligned with India’s manufacturing and electric mobility policies.
Dr Sudhir Mehta Founder & Chairman EKA Mobility said, “Securing the Automotive PLI Certificate for the EKA bus platform reflects the evolving readiness of India’s EV manufacturing ecosystem to deliver globally benchmarked, locally engineered mobility solutions. The certification affirms the significance of a vertically integrated approach where product development, supply chain localization, and advanced technology converge to create commercially viable electric vehicles. As India accelerates its transition to sustainable transport, such recognitions help catalyze deeper industry-government collaboration and reinforce the potential of indigenous innovation to lead the shift.”
Recently, EKA Mobility has secured a Letter of Award (LOA) for the supply and deployment of 750 electric buses across multiple cities in Andhra Pradesh. The order will be implemented in collaboration with GreenCell Mobility. The buses will be deployed in eleven cities: Amravati, Anantapur, Kadapa, Kakinada, Kurnool, Rajahmundry, Nellore, Guntur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. The order includes 129 nine-metre buses and 621 twelve-metre buses. All units will be fully electric and will operate as part of the state’s public transport system.
