Turno and ThunderPlus Collaborate To Deploy 1 MW Charging Hubs Along Indian Highways
ThunderPlus, an EV charging infrastructure provider and Turno, a solutions provider for electric mobility, on Tuesday announced a strategic partnership to establish one MW (Megawatt) charging facilities along highways, starting from Hyderabad to Vizag. The initiative is set to transform the EV landscape by addressing range anxiety and accelerating the adoption of electric buses and heavy commercial vehicles.
"While these charging stations are primarily designed for electric bus operations, they will also function as semi-public charging hubs. This partnership eliminates charging anxiety and paves the way for faster EV adoption across India," Rajeev YSR, CEO, ThunderPlus, stated.
This collaboration aligns with ThunderPlus’ visionary ‘One District, One Thunder’ initiative, ensuring that every district in India hosts at least one ThunderPlus charging station, with priority given to districts along national and state highways.
"We are thrilled to partner with ThunderPlus as we expand our footprint in the large vehicle segment with Electrigo and strengthen our presence in the EV ecosystem. With this collaboration, Electrigo aims to replace 10 crore bus kilometers of diesel consumption with electric by the end of 2026, marking a significant step towards a cleaner, more sustainable future," said Sudhindra Reddy, founder, Electrigo- a wholly owned subsidiary of Turno.
The impact of this initiative has taken shape with charging stations operational in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vizag, and Rajahmundry. The partnership is expected to expand to other highways.
