Furthermore, the 21st century witnessed a major shift in the character of the Auto Expo as foreign automakers began to actively participate, recognising India's automotive market potential. The Expo, which was a biennial event, became a launchpad for new models designed for the Indian market, showcasing the growing importance of the market in global automotive strategies.

As the focus shifted from displaying vehicles to showcasing technologies of the future, sustainable solutions, and the integration of technology with mobility, the Auto Expo has since then metamorphosised as it engulfs the entire ecosystem and has heavy participation from the Government.

Rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has further accelerated the evolution of Auto Expo. EVs have been a centre of attraction for many global auto expos as well as the auto expo in India. Additionally, the Expo has witnessed a surge in the number of electric vehicles and related technologies showcased, reflecting the global shift towards sustainable mobility. The Expo has become an integral platform for automakers to showcase their EV strategies, unveil new electric models.

The latest iteration of the Auto Expo, rebranded as ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo’ underwent a major rebrand reflecting the broader scope of the event, encompassing a wide range of mobility solutions, including two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and futuristic emerging technologies such as autonomous driving and connected vehicles.

While the aim of the expo continues to be to position India as a global leader in the automotive sector, the event also serves as a platform which promotes collaboration between Indian and international players. Furthermore, it provides a platform for Indian companies to showcase their technological prowess and attract global investments.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 would be an umbrella for various shows including the Auto Expo, battery show and tyre show, besides the electronics show. While the Bharat Mobility Global Expo was organised and held last year at the Bharat Mandapam, it is expected to be one of the biggest iterations with the Bharat Mobility Global Expo being held across the Delhi National Caption Region (NCR). The main attraction would be the auto show which will be held at Bharat Mandapam Pragati Maidan in Delhi with more than 40 cars being unveiled and several showcases.

There would be two more stages placed at the Yashobhoomi (India International Convention Centre, Dwarka) and India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida. The auto show is expected to attract a massive footfall owing to the diversity of the expo including B2B and B2C sectors. The components show will be held at Yashobhoomi whereas the construction equipment and urban mobility infrastructure, comprising not only land mobility and surface transport mobility but also air transport such as drone show, as well as water transport infrastructure, will be showcased at Greater Noida. A Government official recently stated that visitor registration would be free of cost.
