MG Motor India has launched the Windsor EV, the country's first Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV). The new model focuses on offering practical solutions for electric vehicle ownership while enhancing comfort and safety. Here are the major features of the Windsor EV:
1. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)
One of the most significant innovations is MG’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, which reduces the upfront cost of owning an electric vehicle. Instead of purchasing the battery, users can opt for a rental plan at Rs 3.5 per km. This flexible approach lowers initial costs, making the Windsor accessible to a broader audience while offering economical long-term operation.
2. Aero-Lounge Seating
The MG Windsor offers unique Aero-Lounge seats in the rear, allowing passengers to recline up to 135°, mimicking a "business-class" experience. This design ensures superior comfort, whether commuting in the city or embarking on long road trips. The spacious interior, combined with a panoramic glass roof, enhances the feeling of luxury and openness.
3. Infotainment Display
Equipped with the largest touchscreen in its segment, the Windsor features a 15.6-inch Grandview display that controls the vehicle’s entertainment, navigation, and connectivity functions. This massive screen, paired with an 8.8 inch instrument cluster, places advanced technology at the forefront of the driving experience.
4. Performance and Range
The Windsor EV comes with a 38kWh battery that powers a 134 bhp electric motor delivering 200Nm of torque. With a range of up to 331 km on a single charge, it supports DC fast charging and can be fully charged in just 40 minutes using fast chargers.
5. Safety Features
For safety, all Windsor EV variants come with 6 airbags, ESC, all four disc brakes, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The vehicle also includes over 35 standard safety features like electronic parking brakes.
