What Makes The Tata Punch Tick?

It is no mean feat to be among the top 5 best-selling cars on a consistent basis. More so, when you beat Maruti for the top spot, that too beating the Swift. That’s exactly what Tata Motors have managed to achieve with the Punch . But what makes this car so special that buyers forming a queue at dealerships? Let me delve into it with this three part series.

Safety

There are no two ways about it, the moment you get inside the Punch and shut the doors ‘thud’, you are enveloped by a sense of confidence and solidity. This is something buyers truly appreciate when they are travelling with their entire families on Indian highways.
But what is even more impressive is the fact that Tata Motor’s marketing team has done a great job in promoting the Punch as the safest car in the segment(which it is). It has a maximum 5-star crash test safety rating for adult occupants in the Global NCAP safety tests and also 4-stars for child occupant protection. In fact, it is among the safest cars on sale in India, irrespective of the segment. Buyers really like this fact.

Genuine SUV Looks

While rivals have floundered with the styling on their compact SUVs, Tata Motors designers have worked wonders within the compact silhouette of the Punch. The car looks like a miniature version of the Harrier when viewed from head on and has just the right proportions. The high set flat bonnet line gives it a unique stance as do the 16-inch wheels. This is a trick that the Suzuki Ignis misses out on, looking more like a small hatchback than compact SUV.
The tall stance also means that the Punch is easy to get in and out of and another trick that Tata have used is 90 degrees door opening, which makes life easy for getting in and out of the car. It’s a looker for sure.

Keen Pricing

The Punch range starts from Rs 6.15 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi). That is very good value for a car that offers good looks, high safety standards and good ride comfort. The keen pricing also extends to the CNG version which retails from Rs 7.22 lakh. Along with the keen pricing, the big benefit that the Punch has over rivals is the generous variants. You get options for sunroof, alloy wheels, touchscreen - the permutations and combinations are genuinely too good to ignore this car.
