Why The Tata Punch Is A Seller Despite These Cons?

Mediocre Engine

While the driving dynamics are sorted with a precise steering, light clutch and comfortable suspensions set up, the engine makes the driving feel underwhelming. Petrol engines have never been Tata ’s forte and it shows even on the Punch . The 1.2-litre, three cylinder motor is decent on power but isn’t as refined as the Suzuki or Hyundai units on sale. So in terms of driving experience, the Punch is underwhelming.

Poor Plastics In The Cabin

The build quality is fantastic no doubt. The solid door shut brings a good of confidence. That said, the plastics and general fit and finish off the materials used isn’t the best. The plastics on the lower part of the centre console can show scratches easily and some switchgear also feels below par compared to rivals. The rear parking camera also could be of better resolution. But all these seem to be minor niggles for most buyers, who are wowed by the other positives we discussed earlier.

Limited Rear Space

While the front seats offer good cushioning and support the rear ones lack legroom and even shoulder room. This means that the car can feel cramped if you decide to travel with five people on board. The rear seat back also is too inclined compared to rivals. On the good side though, the doors open 90 degrees both in the front and at the back that means that getting in and out of the car is a breezy affair.

Overall

Despite these shortcomings it seems buyers appreciate the major positives that this car has to offer and we have listed elsewhere on this website.(link here). The Punch deserves all the success it is getting. It is the right sized car for the city offering robust build quality, a nice and supple ride and a peace of mind factor that only 5-star safety crash test rating can bring.
