Anand Mahindra's Humble Reply To Criticism Of Mahindra Cars, Service Shocks Complainant

A social media user went on to criticise the quality of Mahindra's cars and SUVs, service centres, spare part shortages as well as employee behaviour. The angry complainant asked Anand Mahindra to compare Mahindra & Mahindra products with rival brand Hyundai, claiming that the former lack aesthetics. He said that the newly launched BE 6e electric SUV coupe is yet another "ajooba" (weird) looking car andand will turn into an eyesore in a couple of months.

To this, Anand Mahindra replied in a humble way, clarifying that the user is in fact, right. "We have used all the surrounding cynicism, scepticism—and even rudeness, as in your post—to fuel our hunger to succeed. Yes we have miles to go before we sleep. There is no room for any complacency and continuous improvement will continue to be our mantra. But thank you for feeding the fire in our bellies…."

Mahindra asked the criticiser to look how far the brand has come from what it was when he joined the company back in 1991. "A global consulting firm strongly advised us to exit the car business since we had no chance, in their view, of competing with the foreign brands that would enter. Three decades later, we are still around and competing fiercely," wrote the Mahindra Group Chairman.

Upon receiving a reply from Anand Mahindra, the X (formerly Twitter) user was shocked and called it a sweet gesture. "I am glad you took the criticism constructively," read his reply to Anand Mahindra's post.
