Ashok Leyland Launches First-Ever Truck Range with ‘Made-in-India’ Air Suspension
Ashok Leyland has expanded its medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MHCV) portfolio with the launch of a new range of trucks equipped with a made-in-India air suspension system. The company says the locally developed suspension technology is being introduced on its AVTR platform and is designed to improve payload capacity, ride quality and operating efficiency for fleet operators.
Ashok Leyland Air-Suspension Truck Range
The new range includes the AVTR 4925 10x2 MAV, AVTR 4625 10x2 MAV, and AVTR 4525 8x2 MAV. According to Ashok Leyland, these are India's first factory-fitted 49-tonne, 46-tonne and 45-tonne trucks to feature an air suspension system.
Ashok Leyland claims the new trucks offer a payload advantage of up to 4 tonnes over comparable conventional models. The AVTR 4925 10x2 MAV is said to deliver an additional payload capacity of 1.5 tonnes, while the AVTR 4625 10x2 MAV and AVTR 4525 8x2 MAV can carry up to 4 tonnes more payload, depending on the application. The higher payload capacity is expected to help fleet operators improve trip efficiency and increase revenue potential while maintaining a competitive acquisition cost. According to the company the inclusion of air-suspension has accounted for a about 3-4 percent increase in sticker price of these trucks.
The new AVTR trucks will be offered in both cowl and cabin configurations with multiple loading span options to suit different cargo applications. They also come equipped with features such as iVAC (Intelligent Vehicle Access Control) and Automatic Traction Control (ATC) as standard. These systems are aimed at improving operational efficiency and traction across varying road conditions.
Ashok Leyland's Made-In-India Air Suspension
The newly developed air suspension system has been engineered and manufactured in India. Ashok Leyland says it improves vehicle stability under load while reducing road shocks and vibrations, resulting in better ride comfort for both the driver and cargo. Further divulging details about the air-suspension the automaker revealed that this technology has been developed in-house by the company engineers and it has been achieved with 100 percent localisation.
