Aston Martin Vanquish Recalled in US Over Brakes Issue
Aston Martin has initiated a voluntary recall for 178 units of the 2025 Vanquish due to a brake software defect that could impair braking performance. The issue arises when the vacuum pump fails to generate sufficient vacuum, leading to a hard brake pedal and prolonged stopping distances. Drivers may notice warning lights and pedal pulsation when ABS engages.
Aston Martin Vanquish Recalled in US Over Brakes issue
Aston Martin America has announced a voluntary recall for 178 units of the 2025 Vanquish that were produced between August 14, 2024, and June 26, 2025, due to a brake software defect that could reduce braking performance.
According to the report filed by Aston Martin to NHTSA, Under specific conditions, the vacuum pump may not generate vacuum. This can reduce brake assistance and cause the brake pedal to feel very hard. Reduced pedal travel may result in increased stopping distances. When the brakes engage, the pedal may pulse – this is the ABS providing pressure to compensate for reduced vacuum and is normal operation by design.
Cause and Warning Signs
The fault occurs if both of the following are true for more than five seconds:
- Brake system vacuum drops below -200 mbar.
- Wheel speed exceeds 1.2 km/h or engine speed reaches at least 400 rpm.
If the defect is triggered, drivers may notice:
- A brake warning light and message on the instrument cluster.
- A harder-than-normal brake pedal feel.
- ABS activation, causing pedal pulsation.
To deal with the issue, Aston Martin will provide a software update for the ESP module to remove the problematic diagnostic code. The updated calibration has already been applied in production for 2026 model year vehicles from July 10, 2025 onward.
Global Scope
In addition to the U.S. recall, Aston Martin has identified 419 units of the 2025 Vanquish built for other markets that require the same fix. These vehicles will also receive the updated ESP software.
