Ather Teases EL01 Electric Scooter Ahead of August 29 Launch: Expected Price, Features and Rivals

Ather Energy is set to launch a new budget-friendly electric scooter on August 29. Teased by CEO Tarun Mehta, the model will be based on the EL01 platform, featuring modern connectivity options and premium attributes.

Ather Energy is gearing up to expand its electric scooter lineup with a new budget-friendly model. The company has confirmed that its upcoming electric scooter will make its debut on August 29 during Ather Community Day. Ahead of the launch, Ather CEO Tarun Mehta shared a picture of the scooter on the production line through a post on X (formerly Twitter), giving the first official glimpse of the new model.

The upcoming scooter is expected to target buyers looking for an affordable electric mobility option while retaining several premium features seen on Ather's existing products.

The new electric scooter will be underpinned by Ather's EL01 platform, which has been developed to support a wider range of products. Although the company has not officially revealed its technical specifications, the teaser image shows the scooter equipped with a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock suspension.

The EL platform is expected to support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. It is also likely to use an electric motor similar to the one found in the Ather 450 series, although it is expected to be tuned for smoother and more user-friendly performance.

Ather EL01: Expected Features and Technology

The upcoming Ather scooter is expected to come with a TFT instrument console featuring Bluetooth connectivity for navigation as well as call and SMS alerts.

Other expected features include:

Hill Hold Assist
Reverse mode
AtherStack 7 operating system
Voice commands
Pothole alerts
Crash alerts

The scooter is also likely to feature Advanced Electrical Braking System (AEBS), which combines regenerative braking with the conventional braking system to deliver better braking performance and improved energy recovery.

Ather EL01: Expected Price and Rivals

Ather is expected to price the new EL01 between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the brand's most affordable offerings.

Once launched, the scooter is expected to compete with models such as the Bajaj Chetak C2501, TVS Orbiter, and Vida VX2 in the growing affordable electric scooter segment.
